Raver won with double knees through a door that was a little botched. The match was cut from 16 minutes to 8 and most of the spots were cut as well.

The match was originally going to have glass boards and they would use the chain ropes in spots involving hooks. At one point they were hoping on securing Nick Gage on short notice but GCW wasn’t interested in burning one of their big matches yet to happen so Shlak was brought in as a last minute replacement. The big fear was that with so many wrestlers using the GCW ring over the weekend he couldn’t risk another infection (he recently had blood poisoning). Havoc had his stitches come loose (from an injury he suffered while in Japan) at a show earlier in the day and he had a gaping wound. The opening match between G-Raver and Jimmy Havoc in a “Devil’s Den” Deathmatch where they use the chain ropes and other weapons had to eb rearranged. One more incident saw Justin Credible throw a chair in the ring in a battle royal with no warning and gave Gory a nasty split on his head. Other matches such as a tag team gauntlet were just turned into a 5 way and most everything was less than 5 minutes including entrances. David Starr, ended in 5 seconds with a rollup. The show overall was derided pretty hard online for starting about 25 minutes late and being rushed to the point where the main advertised championship match, Johnny Blackcraft (John Morrison) vs. The Blackcraft Wrestling show started at midnight after Spring Break Part 1 on April 5 th. The second issue was timing that almost ruined one of the shows. Because of the schedule of fans going from show to show people would come in late, find their seats filled and the staff was so busy they couldn’t help and a lot of people had complaints with spending big money on front row seats and winding up standing. The standing room tickets really ruined the show for anybody under 6 feet tall and the seating had a lot of complaints with people just filing in and filling seats that weren’t theres. The first was there were definitely faults with the organizing. There were some downsides to the weekend. The match had to be renamed after legal letters from the Lego company (and I don’t blame them) and Nick Gage took his place. Also on the card was Green Phantom winning a 3 way with Gage and Tremont that went all over.Įvery show it seemed like whatever announcer was on duty was dying to do Nick Gage’s introduction.Īnother note was on the ISW show on April 4 th Viking was supposed to make his return to the US in a Lego Deathmatch. Now the wrestlers swore the drinks were real, they sure smelled real, but they pounded back 10-15 shots and a half dozen beers each in 20 minutes flat and were still standing backstage afterwards so I’m not 100% sure what to think. Sexxxy Eddy in an “Alcobrawl” where every few minutes a song played and they had to take shots and beers. The highlight of all the non-GCW shows I saw was definitely the sparsely attended IWS show that was headlined by Arik Canon vs. I will try and provide highlights but this was a weekend for socializing. Everything else I just caught pieces of as I mingled with fans and partied it up.

I will gladly admit the only shows I physically watched all the way through were the Spring Breaks, most of Bloodsport, AIW and the IWS show. As every show went on the crowds would get more and more acquainted with each other (as well as more and more drunk) and the wrestling became secondary to the experience. I attended most all of the shows and they were something really unique. The fees paid by the companies, their own gates, merchandise and record streaming numbers all went right into the company’s pockets. Without bluntly stating numbers GCW cleaned up big time with this endeavor.

Just 2 weeks before the start Nova Pro out of Georgia had to pull out of their committment due to lack of funding and GCW added a last minute show hosted by Orange Cassidy, along with Bloodsport and Spring Break 1 and 2, that led to 4 total sell outs of 700+ fans each. Overall they hosted 11 shows, 4 of them being GCW run and 7 ran by outside companies. They provided the ring and partnered with to provide the streaming and filming along with other logistics. GCW rented out White Eagle Hall for Thursday-Saturday and set up 4 blocks each day to run shos. GCW made yet another stamp on the Wrestlemania Weekend in a way that will no doubt continue.
